Scarborough - 24th & 25th April 2011

The main purpose of our weekend trip to Scarborough was to attend the charity rugby games being held at Scarborough Rugby Club on Easter Monday afternoon - with all monies raised being shared between the Japanese Tsunami/Earthquake and New Zealand Earthquake appeals.
South Bay Beach
We had however decided to turn our trip to the coast into a '2 dayer' - travelling up on Easter Sunday and staying overnight in the Travelodge, mainly to avoid the Easter Monday traffic heading to the coast, and to allow us a more relaxing weekend.
Around the harbour
We were very lucky with the weather which was a bonus. Ok the temperatures were down on what we've had for the last couple of weeks, but it was dry and mostly sunny. A little nippy in the coastal breeze, but generally very nice...makes a change from our wet walks in the Dales and Lakes etc...lol
Looking North along the North Bay
We parked on Sea Cliff Road past the Esplanade - we always like to park away from the 'madding crowd' and it also means that if we walk to the Seal Life Centre and back it gives us around 7 miles walking, so keeps us on our toes - literally. We wouldn't normally visit the coast on a bank holiday as we're not than keen on it when it's busy - and it was busy, but you don't mind mixing with the crowds every now and then.

We had a nice Italian Meal on Sunday night - in Tricolos, where I had a litre of Red Wine to myself which went straight to my head as I rarely drink - thankfully my wife was there to look after me...lol Followed that up with a pint of Cider in a pub and then off to bed.
Looking over the South Bay towards the harbour
Sunday morning we were out of the hotel and sat in a cafe on the front having breakfast by 8am, it was a right little sun-trap and even so early it was very warm - shorts and t-shirt the order of the day - as well as a full English of course!
Walking around the harbour towards the lighthouse
We had a nice relaxing morning, then at noon set off for the afternoon's entertainment at Scarborough Rugby Club. A great day and a half...
