Walk 12:15pm to 3pm - 4.51 miles
We waited in the cottage until around 11:45am as even though the local weather forecast showed rain clearing to leave a nice clear day, it was wet and dull all morning.
When parking up near Malham Tarn the temperature was 10c, and when arriving back at 3pm it was 11c and still dull – so much for the 17c - 19c sun that was promised for the afternoon! Why do we bother to take notice of what they say on the weather reports when so often they are so wrong?
We didn’t do a long walk, just a few miles over and around Mastiles Roman Marching Camp and Malham Tarn, as my wife’s knee was sore and my left heel was bleeding due to the blister caused by my new boots, so walking wasn’t that enjoyable. I did put a brave face on to walk the few miles, when to be honest my left foot was really painful. I'm sure the Roman soldiers faced much worse when they were in the area!
Not a great deal to see in the area, but a nice (but very windy) walk to blow away the cobwebs and finish the week. We saw a few other people walking over the moor, particularly when we went over near the Tarn and quite a few were walking the Pennine Way,
